Dirección de Lenguas Indígenas

Las lenguas indígenas son parte importante del patrimonio cultural de la Nación y de cada uno de los pueblos indígenas que las hablan. Su valoración y uso forman parte de las políticas de promoción de la diversidad e interculturalidad y de inclusión social. Por ello la Dirección de Lenguas Indígenas tiene como responsabilidad promover e implementar acciones para el desarrollo y uso de las lenguas indígenas y originarias de los pueblos indígenas del país, fomentando su aprendizaje en el marco de la Ley Nº 29735, la Constitución Política del Perú, la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Lingüísticos y la normativa nacional e internacional relacionada.

Indigenous languages are an important part of the Nation’s cultural heritage and of each of the peoples that speak them. Their appreciation and use are central to policies for the promotion of diversity and interculturality and social insertion. Therefore, the Dirección de Lenguas Indígenas has among its responsibilities to promote and implement actions conducive to the development and use of indigenous and originary languages of the country’s indigenous peoples and to encourage their learning in accordance to national legislation (Ley Nº 29735), the Political Constitution of Peru, the Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights, and related national and international policies.
